Omaha Standard, Inc. has been an industry leader in manufacturing quality truck
equipment for more than 75 years. We feature a complete line of quality-built
conventional scissor, low profile scissor, and telescopic conversion hoists. Built
to professionally engineered specifications, these hoists combined with an Omaha
Standard body offer a total working package superior to any on the market.
This publication is designed as a basic reference manual for our hoist and dump
body products. It is intended for distributors, manufacturers, truck dealers, sales
people, and truck buyers. It provides general information on the selection of Omaha
Standard equipment for commercial vehicles. It is not intended as a detailed
engineering guidebook. Omaha Standard believes all the information and materials
in this manual are accurate and reliable. Omaha Standard reserves the right to
modify, change, or revise this publication and specifications and furnish equipment
so altered without prior notice. For special applications or those not covered by
this manual, contact an authorized Omaha Standard representative.
Our equipment is sold and serviced by a nationwide network of factory authorized
Omaha Standard distributors who see to it that you receive the finest equipment on
the market and that it is properly installed. Ask them for literature and additional
information on the rest of the outstanding Omaha Standard equipment line.
Omaha Standard manufactures a complete and extensive line of truck bodies and truck
equipment. Products other than hoists and dump bodies include:
- Platforms (flatbeds) and associated racks and sides including
steel and wood stake racks, solid steel stake sides, contractor racks, and
grain sides.
- Service bodies (utility bodies) and accessories such as HiRoofs (canopies),
low sliding roofs, bumpers, trays, and ladder racks.
- Toolboxes including above body and under body models.
- The Eagle Lift division of Omaha Standard is a leading manufacturer of
hydraulic liftgates (tailgates) for pickups and light to medium duty trucks. Our
cable type liftgates have 1,000 lb., 1,300 lb., or 1,600 lb. capacities, the
direct lift (no cables) liftgates have 1,300 lb. or 1,600 lb. capacity for
full-side pickups and service bodies, while the rail lift models are rated at
1,600 lb. and 2,000 lb. capacity.
- In addition to these standard products, Omaha Standard also builds custom
units such as line bodies, crane bodies, and cargo bodies.
Scissor Hoists

Omaha Standard offers seven single cylinder scissor hoists made from special high
strength steel. These light weight hoists are all double acting[1] (power up and
power down) with heavily chromed and polished piston rods. A P.T.O. driven direct
mount gear pump is standard on all models. Electric/hydraulic, piston, or remote
mount gear pumps are available as options. All pivot points have lubrication
fittings for easy maintenance. A pre-installed, integral body prop automatically
positions itself and stores securely out of the way when not in use. All Omaha
Standard hoists have a full-width, heavy structural angle rear hinge. The
“drop-hinge” design of our scissor hoists results in a very low mounting height
eliminating the need to cut body cross members. Installation is fast and easy with
applications covering bodies 8’ to 20’ long and cab-to-axle dimensions of 60”
through 174”.
Olympic Hoists

Omaha Standard offers six different models of Olympic series telescopic conversion
hoists made from high-strength steel. The unique patented design results in greater
“torsional stability” than any other hoist on the market (less body twist under
uneven loads). This means a safer working environment. Single acting or double
acting (power up and power down), they all have high polished, hard-chromed
telescopic cylinders for durability and long wear. Self-centering cylinder saddles
reduce the possibility of seal or cylinder wall damage and patented frame stops
prevent the cylinder from bottoming out and the hoist from going over center. A PTO
driven direct mount gear pump is standard on all models. Remote mount gear or high
pressure, positive displacement piston pumps are available as options. All pivot
points have lubrication fittings for easy maintenance. The 144 HD is completely
grease-free with composite bearings in all joints, including the rear hinge. Olympic
hoists have more lifting capacity and longer reach than other stabilizer-type hoists.
This means greater capacity and a far forward lift point. The low profile and reversibility
(mounting in either direction) provide quick, easy, and flexible installation. Applications
cover body lengths from 15’ to 28’, cab-to-axle dimensions of 120” to 174”, and cab-to-trunnion
dimensions of 102” to 246”.

*Indicates application is not recommended by the factory. For installations other
than shown in the above chart consult the factory.
NOTE: All lifting capacity ratings are gross load (body and cargo) and are based
on proper body length, overhang, mounting distance, and a level load. Assume 3”
(7.6 cm.) clearance between front of body and back of cab with a rear hinge location
33” (83.8 cm.) behind the center line of the rear axle for single axle trucks and
45” (114.3 cm.) behind the center line of the trunnion for tandem axle trucks.
CAUTION: The combined weight of the truck chassis, hoist, platform, sides, and
cargo must not exceed the G.V.W.R. of the vehicle.

*Indicates application is not recommended by the factory. For installations other
than shown in the above chart consult the factory.
NOTE: All lifting capacity ratings are gross load (body and cargo)
and are based on proper body length, overhang, mounting distance, and a level
load. Assume 3” (7.6 cm.) clearance between front of body and back of cab with a
rear hinge location 33” (83.8 cm.) behind the center line of the rear axle for
single axle trucks and 45” (114.3 cm.) behind the center line of the trunnion for
tandem axle trucks.
CAUTION: The combined weight of the truck chassis, hoist, platform,
sides, and cargo must not exceed the G.V.W.R. of the vehicle.
